Research begins with questions from clinical care.

I care for people with knee osteoarthritis and perform knee replacement surgery. Osteoarthritis progresses differently in each person. I study ways to assess the current condition using consistent criteria, record changes quantitatively, and predict what happens next. My main research areas include imaging AI, gait analysis and biomechanical simulation, surgical planning, and robotics. I also study Physical AI, in which AI interprets images and the environment to guide real-world movement.

I studied medicine, medical science, and orthopedic surgery at Seoul National University and trained in orthopedic surgery at Seoul National University Hospital. As CEO of CONNECTEVE, I work on translating medical AI and robotics into products. I also serve as Managing Editor of Clinics in Orthopedic Surgery.
